ABOUT ABOUT

Show off your creative side at one of ASU-Beebe's summer camps!  We are offering six camp sessions at three campus locations:  Heber Springs, Searcy, and Beebe.  Vanguard Discovery Camp is for students entering the 4th-8th grades.  Classes are limited to 20 participants.

SEARCY WEEK ONE:  June 18-22

  • MORNING SESSION (8am-12pm) - PULSE Medical Week
    • Cost: $80
    • Experience a day in the life of a medical professional!  This camp explores what it’s like to work as an athletic trainer, LPN, EMT, Paramedic, Medical Flight crew, and veterinary assistant.  On Monday, Ron Carroll, Head Certified Athletic Trainer for A-State, will join us to discuss sports medicine.  Also on Monday, Charlotte Davis, Child Nutrition Director for Searcy Public Schools, will talk with students about nutrition and dietetics.  Tuesday we will take a trip to Unity Health hospital and go behind-the-scenes to see how medical personnel save lives every day.  ASUB LPN instructors will introduce students to the field of nursing on Wednesday, and students can even earn a Friends & Family CPR certification.  We will also take a trip to ASU-Beebe campus on Thursday to visit the Veterinary Technology program and learn more about the care and welfare of animals.  You'll even get to meet our resident farm animals and pets.  On Friday students will observe a full-scale simulated "crash" scene to watch first responders in action.  This simulation will include ASUB's EMS instructors and students, Searcy Fire Department, Survival Flight, and Northstar Ambulance.
  • AFTERNOON SESSION (1pm-5pm) - Black Rocket: App Attack
    • Cost: $80
    • Dive into making your own apps, just like the ones you’d see in the App Store!  Using a specialized app & game development tool, students will explore the world of web-based (HTML5) mobile apps. In addition to learning the basics of mobile app design and game development, you will also see firsthand how the world of App publishing functions.  (No prior experience is necessary and students do not need to own a smartphone or tablet to take the class.)

SEARCY WEEK TWO:  July 9-13

  • MORNING SESSION (8am-12pm) - Lego® Robotics
    • Cost: $80
    • Robots in all their different shapes, sizes, and levels of complexity are vital to our everyday lives.  During Lego® Robotics camp, students will explore, experiment, and create with Lego® Robotics kits and compete with their bots on the final day of camp.  Students will work on team building exercises, strategy, programming, proto-typing, design and much more throughout this course.
  • AFTERNOON SESSION (1pm-5pm) - Black Rocket: Minecraft® Designers
    • Cost: $80
    • Fill a Minecraft® world with your own custom designs and creations!  If you love the game Minecraft®, but always wanted to design your own characters and buildings for your games, this class is for you!  Learn the basics of creating 3D models using a new software to design your very own objects, create skins for characters, and import them into your favorite Minecraft® games.
